Macquarie University Hospital implements new technology
The Prospitalia h-trak system, designed to streamline hospital processes, has gone live at the Macquarie University Hospital.
The project commenced in August in 2022, and the Operating Theatres department is the first to go live in a rollout that also includes the Angio Suite, Endoscopy and Trans-Oesophageal Echocardiogram (TOE) departments.
A core component of the implementation includes Prospitalia h-trak’s Preference Card Management System, which will address the end-to-end processes from patient booking and set-up of procedures, through to the supply chain management and replenishment of critical supplies used in these high-cost procedure settings. As part of the theatres implementation, 1000 preference cards have been digitised in the h-trak system.
The implementation also includes interfaces to the TechOne enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and the TrakCare electronic medical record (EMR).
“The Macquarie University Hospital implementation, and the go-live within theatres, is an important milestone for Prospitalia h-trak,” said Kirk Kikirekov, Managing Director of Prospitalia h-trak.
“Macquarie is the first customer to implement our unique and highly integrated digital preference card management solution.”
Walter Kmet, CEO of Macquarie University Hospital, said, “Prospitalia h-trak will provide transparency around procurement, utilisation, cost allocation and revenue processes, as well as deliver a technology solution that supports the management of supply in both our operating theatres and hospital-wide.
“One of the key benefits of the system is the Preference Card Management Solution, which will provide invaluable data to our clinicians.”
Stage 2 of the implementation will include the rollout to the other departments and additional integrations to TrakCare EMR to include the electronic upload of implants used on patients, and to TechOne to receive Goods Receipt Notifications (GRNs).
